Description
The sun rises on a herd of Bison after a week of intense cold with the worst of the bitter air settling into this creek swale in Alberta’s Parklands. The year is 986 AD and a desperate family of Tha Dene hunters is trying the distractor trick – in this case a willow branch has feathers and dried pea pods at the end which is raised above a snowbank and used to attract and distract the Alpha bulls. If it works, one of the stalkers in a Bison robe will be able to get close enough to put a spear into one of the yearlings at the rear.
