Description
The fascinating thing about Winter, is that it carries its history along with it. A snow storm, a hoar frost, a melt – all are written on the landscape in the long season’s passage. In this painting, a heavy snow in early Winter was followed by a warm melting of the drifts into ice sculpture. A fresh snow on top shows the busy tracks of a pair of Ermine, that have turned this Aspen rail fence into a private playground. Tunneling below the snow or running on the rails, these beautiful creatures are superbly adapted to this environment.
