Description
An Airspray Longliner is a Lockheed L-188 Electra passenger airplane that has been modified for firefighting in western Canada. The Electra is fast and powerful so that the long distances between re-load bases in Canada have less effect on firefighting efforts. Originally built in the late1950s, it introduced several design innovations such as ‘plank’ wings instead of the traditional ‘spar and former’ methods of the past. Powered by four powerful Allison T56 turbines it gets to where it’s needed fast and back to base for more, if needed.
